January 21, 2009: Application Deadline, Closed. MTI received 50 applications requesting a total of $110 million for the $20 million balance of this fund. The MTI Board expects to announce the awards in early June 2009. Click to view the list of applicants.

MTI Workshops on the Fund: October 28 - December 1, 2008

For the second round of awards, MTI staff conducted workshops in all counties about the Maine Technology Asset Fund and processes for application, review and award, as well as questions potential applicants may have.  Click here for a list of workshops.

Questions and Answers

MTI offers a list of questions and answers asked during workshops and via email to provide a general interpretation of the Request for Applications and the second round of awards. MTI cannot guarantee that the general responses will apply in the case of each individual project; when there is a contradiction, the RFA will rule. 

Review Process

To assist with the rigorous review and competitive ranking of applications, MTI contracted with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), a respected scientific organization that has worked with over 30 states to implement research and technology commercialization programs.

The MTI Board plans to announce the final award decisions for round two awards on June 8, 2009.

Notice of Intent to Apply

Closed: The submission deadline date was, noon, December 17, 2008. No Notice of Intent to Apply may or can be submitted now that the deadline has passed. Submitting a Notice did not bind a prospective applicant to submitting an application; however, an application will neither be accepted nor reviewed unless a Notice of Intent was filed by the deadline.
