After 24 years at MTI, we are sad to say goodbye to longtime MTI staffer, Joe Migliaccio.
Joe was an original member of MTI’s startup team in early 2000. He joined MTI on Valentine’s Day 2000, after spending 10 years on the startup team at Idexx. During his tenure at MTI, he has served in many different roles from Business Innovation & Technology Specialist in the early years, to Director of the MTI Business Ventures Group, to a stint as Interim President in 2012, to Director of Business Development, and to his current role as Director of Portfolio Advancement. Through it all, Joe has helped MTI to become a leader in the innovation sector, helping to identify challenges, develop solutions and reach out to Maine businesses to lend support. He helped mold this fledgling organization into a respected national model for tech-based economic development.
Joe has worked directly with hundreds of Maine founders and companies, and with many MTI partners, including the Maine Center for Entrepreneurs, UpStart Maine, Top Gun, ScratchPad, and the MaineHealth Innovation Cohort, to help Maine startups grow and scale. As MTI’s liaison to the Maine Angels, he has worked to make essential connections between Maine startups and our state’s network of accredited private equity investors.
Joe’s affable approach and infectious laugh will be missed, as will the fresh vegetables from his garden and eggs from his chickens that he generously shares with us on a regular basis. His quirky holiday party gifts will also be missed but will long live in MTI lore, as will many of his other hilariously uncanny exploits and stories over the years.
Thank you Joe for your long tenure at MTI, we wish you all the very best as you pursue your new endeavors to continue your work and contributions to the region’s innovation economy.
