From energy startup to industry innovator
Multiple Investments | $1M+
For generations, Mainers have made a living from the rich abundance of natural resources found in our state — from tilling the land, fishing the coastal waters to working in the woods. But one innovative company is tapping into another of Maine’s natural resources — wind. And they’re using it to change how we power our lives.
Pika Energy of Westbrook started out building residential wind turbines and has since expanded into power storage and system platforms that integrate solar, wind and battery power. MTI was an early investor in Pika, and continued to support them with multiple investments over the years as they grew their business and developed their technology.
With Generac’s acquisition of Pika in the spring of 2019, those investments are paying off in more ways than one. The deal will help Pika bring clean energy solutions to even more people around the globe, and it’s also proving that Maine has the right resources — natural and otherwise — to build innovative and impactful businesses.
