Mass High Tech (MHT), a Boston-based publication specializing in covering New England’s incubation of next generation technologies and the people and companies behind the innovation economy has named MTI President Betsy Biemann as one of their 2012 Women to Watch.
MHT’s Women to Watch program recognizes women in tech and life sciences who are go-getters, hardworking, inspirational and motivational to their peers. It acknowledges them for their leadership in the office and in the community. This year’s 20 honorees were selected from more than 100 nominations.
“This year’s honorees come from a broad range of sectors, showing the growth of women in leadership roles throughout the tech and life sciences industry. Betsy Biemann has served as president of the Maine Technology Institute since 2005. Betsy serves on the steering committees of Blackstone Accelerates Growth and Cleantech Innovations New England as well as on the Maine Innovation Economy Advisory Board, the Coastal Enterprises, Inc. Board and the Maine Philanthropy Center Board. She joined MTI after working as an associate director at The Rockefeller Foundation in New York City. In 2010, MaineBiz named Betsy to their NEXT List of ten individuals they think will influence the future of Maine’s economy.
MTI is a publicly financed, private nonprofit organization created by the Legislature to stimulate research and development activity leading to the commercialization of new products, processes and services in the state’s seven technology-intensive sectors.
